MET's Fun Company to Present THE STAR STEALER, 6/7-29

Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) family theatre, The Fun Company, will present the final show of its 2013-14 season, the World Premiere of The Star Stealer. Written by MET ensemble member, Caitlin Joy, and directed by fellow ensemble member Vanessa Strickland, the show hopes to capture audiences by creating entire universes out of only 6 actors and a collection of objects. The playwright is excited to share her new work; 'Vanessa has a fantastic vision for this show and the cast and crew are top notch, so it's bound to be a great performance. The laughs and the lessons are for audiences of all ages. And live theatre is always its own adventure!' The show will run from June 7 through June 29 at MET.

The Strand Theater Company proudly presents the inaugural production of its 2014 season, One Glitz Wish, by Kristin Harrison. A mash up of Commedia Dell'Arte, cabaret, and drag, One Glitz Wish is a hilarious evening of glamour and decadence that explodes the question of what it means to be a 'little girl.' One Glitz Wish, which opens June 1, is the first Strand production under the leadership of the new Artistic Director, Elissa Goetschius.

Glass Mind Theatre to Play with Miss Manners in RSVP, 6/6-15

Time travel might not be first thing that comes to mind when people think of manners; usually it's more like which fork to use when. But, in Glass Mind's production of RSVP, based on Emily Post's Etiquette, you can expect that combination. Director Ann Turiano, who is also leading the cast in the devising process, uses time travel to go back and forth between 1922 and 2014 to look at different ideas of acceptable behavior in the two different eras.

Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC) Academy announces the launch of a Pre-Professional Program to prepare exemplary young musical theater artists in grades 4-12 for college and/or a professional career, starting in September 2014. Led by a highly qualified faculty, and with a curriculum that incorporates the National & State Fine Arts Standards of Learning, the Pre-Professional Program will provide students with comprehensive training in singing, dancing, acting, and performance from September through May each year.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is proud to announce its 2014-2015 Mainstage season. MET's seventeenth mainstage season will run from September of 2014 through June of 2015 and will feature a classic Shakespeare comedy, a German masterpiece, a World Premiere original, and contemporary crowd pleasers. Season subscriptions are on sale now at a special early bird rate. MET Artistic Director Tad Janes shared his excitement about all the plays, 'This season brings such great plays to the MET! Two very exciting newer plays, Clybourne Park and Good People, both have a great sense of humor, but also have a real depth of message. The Arsonists is a very funny, bordering on absurd, comedy, and we feature two excellent timeless pieces with The Elephant Man and Twelfth Night. Next season also brings a new MET created piece, brought to us by MET Mainstage writing alumni Reiner Prochaska.'

Iron Crow Theatre Company presents Bareback Ink. A mysterious, powerful man commissions an isolated and withdrawn tattoo artist to create a large work of "ink" on the back of his beautiful, restless boy-toy. Greek mythology serves as inspiration for this modern, erotic tale of desire and possession. An earlier version of this piece was seen at the Capitol Fringe and the Edinburgh Fringe in 2012. Now, playwright Bob Bartlett teams up with Iron Crow to workshop the play and take it to even more dangerous places.

Based on the hit film by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin, GHOST, the musical follows young couple Sam and Molly as their relationship takes a challenging turn with Sam's untimely death. The national tour of GHOST recently performed a limited engagement at Baltimore's historic Hippodrome Theater, but this production marks the area premiere for a local performing group.

Well, recently three members of the SISTER ACT First National Tour decided to liven up life on the road by creating 'Sunday Intermission Covers.' Every Sunday, Ashley Moniz, Chris Cooke, and Tad Wilson quickly change costumes and then set up in front of a camera to sing a new, stripped down song. Recently the three spoke to BroadwayWorld about the project and their challenge for the rest of the Broadway community.
