New York Live Arts’ Ford Foundation Live Gallery Announces 'CROWD (for Bill T. Jones)' Exhibition

New York Live Arts' Ford Foundation Live Gallery is currently featuring CROWD (for Bill T. Jones), a commissioned, site-specific work by artist Donald Baechler. Before Live Arts visitors enter the theater and third floor studio space, they will encounter Baechler's monumental mural. A large-scale paper collage constructed directly on the wall, the work is on view now through January 2013. Members of the press are invited to the view the work at an opening reception on Tuesday, September 18th, 6:30 - 7:30PM. New York Live Arts' 2012-13 presenting season opens the same night, starting at 7:30pm, with Voices of Strength: Dance and Theater by Women from Africa.

In connection with the opening of its 2012-2013 Season, Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) today expressed its gratitude to area corporate organizations offering support for the 2012-2013 Season. The RLTP 2012-2013 Season officially opens tonight, Friday, September 14, 2012, with From The Mississippi Delta, by Dr. Endesha Ida Mae Holland. Productions to follow during the September through May season include the world-premiere of Jon Elston's 2012: End of the Road, the Western New York (WNY) premiere of Annie Baker's Circle Mirror Transformation, the world-premiere and Emanuel Fried New Play Workshop Selection of Donna Hoke's Seeds, and the WNY premiere of Sarah Ruhl's Clean House.

"Tartuffe, or the Imposter," is perhaps Moliere's most famous comic masterpiece. The plot revolves around a pompous head of household taken in by a cunning charlatan, under the religious cloak of piety. Tartuffe seeks to marry his benefactor's daughter, seduce his wife and gain the family fortune. Moliere gives us a farce with a scathing wit as he roasts religion, hypocrisy and sexual deceit.

Blackfriars Theatre, a professional, not-for-profit theatre located on Rochester, NY's "Theatre Row" keeps the beginning of the Rochester theatre season rolling with the premiere of "[title of show]," a musical, with music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen, and book by Hunter Bell. This Tony Award nominated musical finds two struggling writers, Jeff and Hunter, who hear about a new musical theatre festival. However, the deadline is a mere three weeks away. With nothing to lose, the pair decides to try and create something entirely new with the help of two of their best friends, Heidi and Susan. They make a pact to write up until the festival's deadline and dream about the show changing their lives. A tuneful love letter to the uniquely American art form.

The New Group will present the first production in its 2012-2013 season, the world premiere of The Good Mother, a new play by Francine Volpe. Directed by Scott Elliott, this production features Darren Goldstein, Gretchen Mol, Alfredo Narciso, Eric Nelsen and Bill Sage. Previews begin October 29 in advance of an Official Opening Night on Thursday, November 15 at 7:00pm. A limited Off-Broadway engagement is slated through December 22 at The New Group @ Theatre Row (The Acorn Theatre / 410 West 42nd Street / Acorn Theatre).

David Salle will open Ariel and Other Spirits, an exhibition presented in conjunction with the Met premiere of Thomas Ades's The Tempest, at the Arnold & Marie Schwartz Gallery Met on September 25. Salle has created a suite of paintings and watercolors for the show, which relate to both Ades's opera and the Shakespeare play. Ariel and Other Spirits will be on display in Gallery Met through January 12. The Tempest, conducted by the composer and directed by Robert Lepage, opens October 23.

'Unfinished Songs,' a new song from Celine Dion and songwriter Diane Warren, was written and recorded for the upcoming British film Song For Marion. Written and directed by Paul Andrew Williams, Song For Marion will be closing the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on Saturday, September 15. The song will be included on Celine's upcoming English-language album, Water And A Flame, to be released this coming November.
