Lena Moy-Borgen is one very talented, very funny lady! On Friday, December 13, the sold-out crowd at Don’t Tell Mama was treated to her latest show, a tour-de-force entitled “A Very Jewish Christmas Story” and this reviewer thinks it is one of the best cabarets I’ve seen all year!

Talman’s affectionate tribute to Elizabeth Taylor and her story of a friendship that transcended Hollywood glamour made for an unforgettable evening. The show beautifully reflected the deep connection Talman shared with the iconic actress.

Amy Wolk’s one-woman show Amy Has Some Things to Wolk On, performed at Don’t Tell Mama on Monday, November 25, was a delightful and hilarious journey showcasing her unique comedic sensibility and impressive vocal talent.

Joshua Redman and company put on an epic performance on 11/16. Redman’s saxophone gleamed with his signature liquid-gold tone, while his mellifluous improvisation intertwined beautifully with Gabrielle Cavassa’s smooth, silky vocals.

Expertly directed by Lennie Watts, Carson’s latest cabaret delivers on all fronts. With clever medleys and informative patter, Carson and team created a marvelous, hypnotic show! The next performance is 10/6 at 4 pm

Matthew Martin Ward has made a name for himself as an accomplished Musical Director for many of New York’s cabaret performers, and now, he has taken center stage with his debut solo cabaret “What I Love” on Saturday September 14. When delivering patter, Ward’s distinctive wit was evident, with his deadpan comic delivery landing every time.

As it says on his promotional material, Joe Fox traveled to Maine in 2009 where he made a documentary on same sex marriage. While scenes from the documentary play during the performance, it is Fox’s story that is the feature of this fascinating show, which is less cabaret and more of a theatrical piece with songs.

On Thursday evening, July 25, Greta Gertler Gold and Hilary Bell showcased musical numbers and the synopsis from their 29-hour reading for an enthusiastic crowd at Joe’s Pub.

The premise of Talia Suskauer's July 8th show was simply songs that Suskauer sings in the shower, and judging by the crowd’s enthusiasm, all were thrilled that she was bringing them to the stage!

Entering with a rousing mash-up of Michael John LaChiusa’s “Welcome to my Party” and “I Love Being Here with You” by Peggy Lee and Bill Schluger, Bornstein set the tone with a hilarious and touching homage to her father, who sadly passed away during the pandemic. The show is a touching homage to a well-loved father.

On Friday June 28, the audience at Don’t Tell Mama was taken on a journey of theatrical storytelling by singer and actress Shannon Daley. This highly original, intriguing piece of theater (which worked surprisingly well in a cabaret space), was well worth another run. This reviewer hopes Daley and her formidable team will bring it back soon!
