Theater Emory invites you to witness a play unlike anything you've ever seen, told through the lens of PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING..."The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity" takes the stage for its Atlanta premiere at the Mary Gray Monroe Theater. The play, which is the 2011 Obie Winner for Best Play and was a finalist for the Pulitzer the previous year, follows Mace, an underdog professional wrestler from the Bronx, whose career as the "guy who loses to make the winners look good" has led to the moment he meets the charismatic smooth talking, dynamo Indian-American Brooklynite known as VP. When the boss of THE wrestling, EKO, pairs the duo on screen as terrorists opposite the larger than life company guy, Chad Deity, it's up them to make sure their stories and identities aren't lost in their journey to ascend to the top.
A satirical smack-down of culture, stereotypes, unspoken racism, geopolitics, identity and courage are all woven into this show that takes you by surprise with it's intelligence and heart told through the lens of this colorful, over the top world.
