West-End Smash JERSEY BOYS Breaks Box Office Records At Birmingham's New Alexandra Theatre

West-End smash Jersey Boys has become the biggest selling show ever at the New Alexandra Theatre, it was revealed today.

The recent run of the hit production smashed all box office records at the Station Street theatre with a 95 percent occupancy at the venue over the period of December 16 2017 to Saturday January 6 2018.

The latest figures break the previous record at the theatre which was also set by the first tour of Jersey Boys in 2014.

Jersey Boys is the remarkable true story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and their rise to stardom from the wrong side of the tracks.

The four boys from New Jersey became one of the most successful bands in pop history, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and sold 175 million records worldwide, all before they turned 30.

The show is packed with hits including Beggin', Sherry, Walk Like A Man, December, 1963 (Oh What a Night), Big Girls Don't Cry, My Eyes Adored You, Let's Hang On (To What We've Got), Bye Bye Baby, Can't Take My Eyes Off You, Working My Way Back to You, Fallen Angel, Rag Doll and Who Loves You.

Lisa Mart, General Manager of the New Alexandra Theatre said: "A total of 31,700 people came to see the show and we had a 95 percent occupancy.

"We were absolutely honoured to be the venue to open the second UK and Ireland tour of Jersey Boys- we knew Birmingham would welcome the show back with open arms and the audiences did not disappoint. It was a fantastic finish to a wonderful year at the New Alex and we can't wait to continue this success in to 2018"

The first ever stage version of the ITV Comedy Benidorm will be the theatre's Christmas Show for 2018 running from December 3 to 29 2018.

The show will be produced for the stage by Michael Harrison and David Ian.
