The Mount Vernon Hotel Museum Hosts A History and Tasting of Beer

The Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden invites visitors to learn about the history of beer in an authentic 19th century gentlemen's tavern room on Friday, March 12th at 6:30 as Sam Merritt leads a lively discussion and tasting tracing the historic roots of the beguiling beverage. Mr. Merritt is the founder of Civilization of Beer, the beer education consulting company whose first goal is to return beer to its proper place at the American table. As the first certified cicerone (beer sommelier) in New York City, Mr. Merritt travels throughout the country teaching and speaking at events while thoroughly enjoying beer, beer people and beer culture along the way.

General admission to A History and Tasting of Beer is $30 for Museum members and $35 for non-members. Reservations are recommended and can be made at (212) 838-6878. The Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden is located at 421 East 61st Street between York and First Avenues. Nearest subway: N, W, R, 4, 5, 6 at the 59th Street/Lexington station.
