The Public Theater's production of the new musical LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST, the second show of The Public's 2013 free Shakespeare in the Park season at the Delacorte, recently began previews on July 23. Directed by Alex Timbers, LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST features songs by Michael Friedman with book adaptation by Timbers and will run through Sunday, August 18, and August 12. XL Nightclub has officially taken over Musical Mondays, which have been renamed as Monday Musicals, and kicked off with an exciting lineup of special events beginning with a performance by Tony Award winning Kinky Boots star Billy Porter who helped launch the series this week. There was a British invasion earlier this week at the Little Shubert Theatre. The hit off-Broadway show Potted Potter hosted the cast of Matilda, the tenants of the Shubert Theatre on Broadway. Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner welcomed the four actresses playing "Matilda"- Sophia Gennusa, Oona Laurence, Bailey Ryon, Milly Shapiro. Check out more photos from the special event here!

Earlier this week it was announced that First Date, the critically acclaimed new romantic musical comedy starring Zachary Levi and Krysta Rodriguez, with music and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, will get an original cast recording. Executive produced by Altar Identity Studios, the album will be recorded and released by Yellow Sound Label, produced by Michael Croiter andDominick Amendum and will be available through Amazon, iTunes and everywhere music is sold in the fall of 2013. MSG Entertainment kicked-off to the holiday season with "Christmas in August" in celebration of the 2013 Radio City Christmas Spectacular production, which will feature a breathtaking new scene that will transform the Great Stage into a glistening winter wonderland. Fans were treated to a 'Spectacular' summer snow storm that will celebrate the production's new "Snow" scene as The Rockettes and Santa Claus unveiled a one-of-a-kind Christmas Spectacular themed ice sculpture and distribute icy Christmas treats for fans throughout the city amidst the New York summer heat. Goodspeed Musicals presents LMNOP, an edgy new musical about an island whose citizens begin to lose their freedoms one letter at a time. The musical will run through August 18 at The Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Conn. ­- Goodspeed's home for developing fresh, innovative, and original new musicals. Horton Foote's The Old Friends, directed by Michael Wilson runs August 20 through September 29, 2013 with a September 12 opening night in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Soul Doctor, about the life and music of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach and his unlikely friendship with Nina Simone, officially opened last night, August 15. Soul Doctor has music by Shlomo Carlebach, orchestrated and arranged for Broadway by Steve Margoshes (Smokey Joe's Café, The Who's Tommy), book and direction by Daniel S.
