For the second week in a row Spring Awakening, the winner of eight 2007 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, set a new house record at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre.

"The most recent gross was $826,145; an increase of $22,000 over the previous week's new record.  The production is playing to approximately 100% capacity, excluding press comps," declare press notes.

Spring Awakening, with book and lyrics by Steven Sater and music by Duncan Sheik, opened on Broadway Sunday, December 10, 2006 at the Eugene O'Neill Theater (230 West 49th St.) following its world premiere at the Atlantic Theater Company.

The Tony Award-winning creative team includes director Michael Mayer and choreographer Bill T. Jones with costumes by Susan Hilferty, set design by Christine Jones,  lighting by Kevin Adams and sound by Brian Ronan.

In addition to a US National Tour – slated for the fall of 2008 – Spring Awakening has garnered an international following. Currently in development are productions in the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Israel, Korea, and Australia.

The Spring Awakening Original Broadway Cast recording, released under the Decca Broadway label, has consistently been ranked in the Top 5 of Billboard's Cast Album chart since its release and the sales figures are approaching 100,000 CDs.
