National Dance Week-NYC Hosts The Ailey Extension's 5th Birthday Celebration 6/5-14

National Dance Week-NYC salutes The Ailey Extension - Ailey's program of dance and fitness classes open to the public - on their 5th birthday with a free "Old School" Dance Party tonight at The Ailey Studios, the nation's largest center for dance. The party will kick-off 5 months of special 5th birthday deals at The Ailey Extension, and preview the upcoming National Dance Week-New York City (NDW-NYC), the week-long celebration of dance and movement in New York City from June 5-14, 2010, when The Ailey Extension will offer 2 free classes and discounts on class cards.
The Ailey Extension's most dedicated and inspiring students come together with dance ambassadors from National Dance Week-NYC, including Karla Garcia from So You Think You Can Dance, and The Ailey Extension's eminent ballet teacher Kat Wildish. The celebration will include dance demos and lessons with The Ailey Extension's premiere hip-hop and samba teachers, great giveaways and prizes, DJ Idlemind spinning old school house and dance music, and a birthday cake in honor of The Ailey Extension's 5th year. Since its inception in 2005, The Ailey Extension has been fulfilling Alvin Ailey's mission to bring dance to the people, and over 35,000 people have taken classes.
