Member Exhibition Featuring Elaine Denton to Open at the Art Center Image

Opening on Saturday, June 23, 2018, the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey will present a new show in our member exhibition series, highlighting the work of Livingston, New Jersey artist, Elaine Denton. Selected by the Art Center's Membership Committee, this show will be on view in Ann's Place Gallery through August 20, 2018.

The exhibition, titled Elaine Denton: Finding My Voice, presents work that features familiar subjects ever-present in ordinary life. "My artwork tends to focus on visual snapshots of the everyday," says Denton. "Often I select subjects that are visible on a daily basis, but are overlooked because people are so used to them-architectural details that were created at a time when labor was less expensive or scenes from the daily routine. I try to convey a feeling for the locale or the person I am painting and hope to provoke both curiosity from the viewer and a feeling of emotional recognition." An opening reception for this exhibition will be held on Saturday, July 14, from 2-4 PM.
