Liz Callaway Hosts 'Bound for Broadway' Concert Featuring NOW. HERE. THIS. & More, 9/26

For more than a decade, Bound for Broadway has been letting audiences know about new shows currently in development. In past years, Bound for Broadway has presented shows like Next to Normal, Avenue Q and The Drowsy Chaperone.

Now in its 11th year, according to the Kaufman Center website, the event will feature the following shows:

Room 16
Book by Andrea Lepcio; music and lyrics by Stephen Sislen, lyrics by Ben H. Winters
Originally conceived by Stephen Sislen and Ben H. Winters

This fast-paced and darkly comedic look inside American political history tells the story of the unlikely friendship between G. Gordon Liddy and E. Howard Hunt, and the events surrounding the Watergate break-in of June 1972. The score spans American popular musical styles from swing and big band to folk and rock.

Now. Here. This.
Written by Hunter Bell and Susan Blackwell, music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen, musical direction and arrangements by Larry Pressgrove, directed by Michael Berresse
Based on a collaboration by Hunter Bell, Michael Berresse, Susan Blackwell, Heidi Blickenstaff, Jeff Bowen and Larry Pressgrove

... And Then I Wrote a Song About It
Book by Eric H. Weinberger, music by Daniel S. Acquisto, lyrics by Sammy Buck, directed by Igor Goldin, musical direction by Thomas Hodges, choreography by Antoinette DiPietropolo, costume design by Hunter Kaczorowski

Set to the rhythm of the disco era and beyond, this one-man musical tells the story of Randall Klausner, a perspiring singer/dancer/actor/songwriter/secretary on a quest for fame, love and acceptance in early 1980s New York. Starring Nick Cearley.

The Boy Detective Fails
Music and lyrics by Adam Gwon, book by Joe Meno; adapted from the novel by Joe Meno

After a childhood full of wonder, Billy Argo, boy detective, faces a mystery he can't comprehend: the shocking death of his younger sister and crime-solving partner, Caroline. Ten years later, 30-year-old Billy returns to his hometown determined to solve the mystery and right old wrongs-but what he discovers instead is a world full of unimaginable strangeness, beauty and love. Featuring Liz Callaway and others.

The Suicide
Music by Simon Gray, lyrics by Raymond Bokhour, book by David Bridel; adapted from the play by Nikolai Erdman

In this wacky original musical comedy set in Stalin's brutal Soviet Union, Semyon, an unemployed grumbler, becomes convinced that suicide is his ticket to fame and glory. Before long, friends and neighbors are plotting to exploit his impending death for fun and profit, and while they're at it, topple an entire regime. The story is based on a 1928 farce by Nikolai Erdman. Stalin hated it, banned it and sent its author to a Siberian labor camp for twenty years. Featuring Raymond Bokhour.

The event will be hosted by Tony Award nominee Liz Callaway on September 26 at 7:30pm in Kaufman Center's Merkin Concert Hall. For more information, visit the Kaufman Center website at kaufman-center.org/merkin-concert-hall.
