The Lincoln Center Scholars program-a partnership with Hunter College and the New York City Department of Education-to train, certify and fast-track the placement of high-quality arts teachers in New York City public schools, is expanding in size and scope in its second year. The program, supported by funding from The Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund and the Department of Education, successfully launched earlier this year with studies for 16 aspiring music and dance teachers, and is now expanding to up to 40 candidates in the second year with studies in two additional creative arts disciplines, theater and visual arts, with spots for each discipline determined by need.
Candidates interested in the Lincoln Center Scholars program and a master's degree from one of Hunter College's creative arts education programs, can apply now through February 11. Pre-degree studies for Lincoln Center Scholars through the Hunter College Alternative Certification Preparation Program for Creative Arts Education will commence in June 2015.
