'Inside The Studio' Ushers Audience Members Behind The Curtain At The Sarasota Ballet

The Sarasota Ballet announces today the line-up for Inside The Studio 2017 - 2018, a series of unique and intimate opportunities to step behind the curtain of The Sarasota Ballet, with demonstrations, coaching and talks from repetiteurs, choreographers and directors. The four events take place in Studio 1, offering audience members a rare glimpse at the inner works backstage at the ballet. Featured this Season will be repetiteur Julian Moss coaching dancers in Robert North's Troy Game; Margaret Barbieri, Assistant Director of The Sarasota Ballet, sharing her unique knowledge of Sir Frederick Ashton's The Dream with the Company's Principal Dancers; a special insight into the revival of George Balanchine's Bugaku; and a unique evening with Joseph Volpe, Executive Director of The Sarasota Ballet and former General Manager of the Metropolitan Opera.

"There is something special about being brought into the coaching and rehearsal process," explains Margaret Barbieri, Assistant Director of The Sarasota Ballet. "Not only are you closer to the performance than you could ever be in the theater, but you also get to experience and understand the vital yet subtle details that go into making a truly incredible performance."

Troy Game | Innovating Movement and Acting

Join The Sarasota Ballet for a unique behind-the-scenes look at Robert North's energetic and comical Troy Game. Julian Moss, one of the original company members of the distinguished London Contemporary Dance, will provide insight into this unique work, coaching the dancers and discussing the impact Troy Game has had on the world of dance.

The Dream | Transmuting Choreography and Storytelling

Director Iain Webb and former Royal Ballet Prima Ballerina and Sarasota Ballet Assistant Director Margaret Barbieri will unveil their intimate experiences performing the principal roles in The Dream.

Bugaku | Blending Subtlety and Strength
