Elayne Boosler Performs at STAGE 72 Tonight

By: Mar. 29, 2014

From performing for President Clinton, the NY Mets, and the Queen of England, to being credited as the comedian who opened the door for female standups on cable TV, in March and April, comedian, writer & animal activistElayne Boosler will bring her one-of-a-kind wit back home with two rare NYC performances tonight, March 29 at 9pm and Friday, April 18 at 9pm at STAGE 72 (158 West 72nd Street). Known for her thoughtful & feisty political humor and her love of animals, every show she performs also serves to rescue animals in the city in which she is appearing, with all after show merchandise sold 100% for the benefit of local rescue organizations. So come and laugh, meet some of the best local rescuers after the show, maybe even buy something wonderful and save a life!

Coming back to New York, where it all started for Elayne and her incredible group of peers in the early '70's, she is the one true keeper of the hilarious stories of those days. All featured in her upcoming book, "Big Fun", they are the funniest of adventures, featuring Andy Kaufman, Richard Belzer, Freddie Prinze, Jay Leno, Richard Lewis, Larry David, Richard Pryor, Lily Tomlin, Rodney Dangerfield, and so many more. Her show is the best of up to the minute, smart, political, thoughtful and uproarious standup comedy, but she does sprinkle in some of the funniest stories never before told.

During her 40 year career, Elayne has written and starred in five one-hour Showtime standup comedy specials, written and directed two movies for Cinemax, appeared on Comic Relief for years, on Politically Incorrect over thirty times, and has hosted numerous other specials, series, and events. She's traveled the world doing standup from Las Vegas to the London Palladium to the White House Press Correspondent's Dinner for President Clinton, and she has performed for the Queen of England as well as the President and Congress at Ford's Theater. She moderated the Democratic Presidential Candidates Debate on C-Span for NOW, and is very active in animal protection issues. She still travels the country performing scores of shows a year.

Elayne has been involved in hands-on animal rescue and advocacy since 1996, and in 2001 founded, and runs, her own nationwide and beyond, all-species animal rescue and advocacy non-profit organization, Tails of Joy(www.tailsofjoy.net). Tails of Joy has saved thousands of animals, made life better for thousands more, and advocates for better treatment of all animals throughout the world.

Elayne Boosler will perform in NYC on Saturday, March 29 at 9pm and Friday, April 18 at 9pm at STAGE 72(158 West 72nd Street). Tickets are $25 plus a two-drink minimum and can be purchased online atwww.Stage72.com.
