DreamWrights Holds Auditions For Teen Musical INTO THE WOODS On Monday and Tuesday, April 16 and 17, beginning at 6:00 pm, DreamWrights Center for Community Arts will hold auditions for Into the Woods. In this timeless, beloved musical, the Baker and his wife, Jack, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, the Witch, and many other fairy tale characters come to life. Their adventures take them into the woods and on journeys they never imagined possible.

DreamWrights Director of Artistic Programming, Laurie Riffe is directing the production. "I'm so excited to see what we learn and discover together as we bring this production to life!" She is putting together a single casted company of twenty actors between the ages of 13 and 19. She reveals, "I will cast the best actor for each role, regardless of gender."

Riffe says she's looking for emotion and passion in all who audition. "Our production team is very passionate about this show and we want you to bring your best selves and biggest energy into the audition room. Please let go of the need to get it 'right' and simply be your genuine self."

Riffe admits that the music is very challenging and those auditioning will be asked to fully act a song as they would with a monologue, not just stand and sing. "We simply ask that you do your best. Whether you memorize the music or bring the music into the room is up to you. You will be accompanied by our Music Director." More audition tips and advice can be found at dreamwrights.org/audition-info.

Riffe shares, "I think it's really important for all actors to find the fun and the joy in the audition process. I really enjoy watching actors who are confident, comfortable with who they are, and have a strong physical life. Be positive, open and friendly, too, because we are looking for people that we will enjoy working with."

Auditions for Into the Woods will run Monday, April 16 or Tuesday, April 17 beginning at 6:00 pm. No prior experience is necessary. Those auditioning are encouraged to make an audition appointment but walk-ins are welcome. Audition preparation materials and information on the process can be found online at www.dreamwrights.org.

Into the Woods opens Thursday, June 14 and runs June 14, 15, 16, 22 and 23 at 7:00 pm and June 17 and 24 at 3:00 pm.
