Coralville Center For The Performing Arts Announces February Events

The Coralville Center for the Performing Arts will welcome exciting talent for a variety of February events.

The schedule includes:

CHESS: In Concert (February 9 and 10 at 7:30 pm, February 11 at 2:00 p.m.). This powerful musical involves a politically driven, Cold War-era chess world championship tournament between two men - an American grandmaster and a Soviet grandmaster - and their fight over a woman who manages one and falls in love with the other. Music was written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus of the pop group ABBA, with lyrics by Tim Rice. Tickets are $12-$27.

LEAP! (February 14 at 7:00 p.m.) LEAP! is Combined Efforts' annual variety show, now in its third year. This year, circus performers, singers, dancers, musicians, actors, and performance artists will take a LEAP! and share their talents. Tickets are $5-$10, children 5 and under are free.

Wickham's Got Talent (February 15 at 6:00 pm). The students of Wickham Elementary take the stage performing many different acts. Singing, dancing, comedy - we've got it all! Tickets are $5-$10 at the door.

Distinguished Young Women of Iowa (February 16 at 7:00 p.m.) Distinguished Young Women of Iowa is part of a national scholarship program that promotes and rewards scholarship, leadership and talent in young women. College scholarships are awarded at the state level and millions in college-granted scholarships are available. Tickets are $7-$12.

Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre (February 20 at 7:00 p.m.) A simple trip to the museum leads to an ice age adventure for young Cornelia and Willy, her toy woolly mammoth. The production features tabletop marionettes, rod puppets, and shadow puppets. The original, live music is provided by Ron Hillis.

Tickets for most CCPA events are available by phone at 319.248.9370, online at CoralvilleArts.org, and in person at the CCPA box office at 1301 5th Street. The CCPA box office is open Tuesday through Friday from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.
