The producers of Monty Python's Spamalot announced today that Tony Award nominees Jonathan Hadary and Marin Mazzie will take over the roles of King Arthur and The Lady of the Lake, respectively, in the Broadway production of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical on October 31 at the Shubert Theatre.

Hadary will succeed Harry Groener as Arthur and Mazzie will replace Lauren Kennedy as the Lady of the Lake.

Mazzie recently appeared as the voluptuous Lalume in the Encores! production of Kismet, and before that in the starry Actors' Fund benefit concert of On the Twentieth Century. She received Tony nominations for her performances in Kiss Me, Kate, Passion and Ragtime, and other Broadway credits include Man of La Mancha, Into the Woods and Big River. At Encores!, she also appeared in Out of This World.

Hadary was most recently seen on Broadway as the meek patriarch of Awake and Sing!  Other Broadway credits include All Shook Up, Gore Vidal's The Best Man, Guys and Dolls, Gypsy (for which he received a Tony nomination), As Is, Torhc Song Trilogy and Gemini.

Spamalot also currently stars Lewis Cleale as Sir Galahad, Martin Moran as Sir Robin, Steve Kazee as Sir Lancelot, Steve Rosen as Sir Bedevere, Michael McGrath as Patsy, and Christian Borle as Historian.

Directed by Mike Nichols, the Tony Award-winning Spamalot has a book by Eric Idle, "lovingly ripped-off" from the screenplay of the Pythons' best-loved film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin. "Telling the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, and their quest for the Holy Grail, Monty Python's Spamalot features a chorus line of dancing divas (and serfs), flatulent Frenchmen, killer rabbits and a legless knight," state press notes.

Book and lyrics are by Idle with a Grammy Award-winning score by Idle and John Du Prez. Other members of the creative team include Casey Nicholaw (choreography), multiple Olivier Award-winners Tim Hatley (sets and costumes) and Hugh Vanstone (lighting) and Acme Sound Partners.

Spamalot opens in London in October and in Las Vegas in March of 2007.  It is currently playing a smash North American tour.
