For ARTUS - Excalibur the St.Gallen Theatre will once again be working with the successful composer Frank Wildhorn, who previously composed the thoroughly successful musical in St.Gallen Der Graf von Monte Christo (The Count of Monte Christo) (Japanese premiere in 2013). Together with Ivan Menchell (script) and Robin Lerner (lyrics), he will turn the legendary tale of Arthur and his sword Excalibur into a stage musical.

"The Arthurian legend has many different Christian, Celtic and Oriental origins. The music will be correspondingly diverse: Pop music will melt with monumental symphonic elements and Celtic sounds. We hope to create something entirely new with Artus," said composer Frank Wildhorn during the first read-through at the beginning of March 2013 in New York.

Francesca Zambello, whose performance of Rebecca was a resounding success in St.Gallen, will produce the gripping tale. "I am looking forward to directing Artus, because it will be packed with sorcery, swordplay, magic and of course powerful emotions; the perfect ingredients for an exciting musical."
