Cobus Venter in the title role
in GROET DIE GROTHELD

After the overwhelming 10-year success of GROET DIE GROTMAN and the record-breaking total of more than 1 000 performances of the production, Lefra Productions is pleased to announce that a new "cave" is coming: GROET DIE GROTHELD, with comic actor Cobus Venter in the title role. This brand new and original text has been written by South Africa's own king of farce, Frans Swart, who will direct the show.

Auditions will soon be held for three young boys who will make a video appearance in the production. The boys should be between ages five and seven, missing their two front teeth and should not be afraid to appear in front of a camera. Prior experience is not necessary, but it is will be an advantage if they have presented an item at an eisteddfod or recited a poem in class in front of an audience. The most important factor is that the boys should not be shy.

Swart says that the boys will play a rather vital role in the production, although their inclusion through by means of video will not require them to be available for tours:

Any boy's father is his greatest hero - especially if he is Blue Bull and regularly takes him to Loftus ! That's exactly what we want to illustrate us with these recordings - my dad is my hero!

Interested parents can email a short CV and photo to Lefra Productions. Not all boys will be invited to audition, but parents of successful candidates will be notified of the dates and times. Further information can be obtained by telephone on (011) 815 3000.

Presented in proud partnership with Stuttaford Van Lines, McCarthy Volkswagen Arcadia, RSG and Sounds Good, GROET DIE GROTHELD will open at the Roodepoort Theatre for previews on 26 and 28 April 2016. Thereafter, the production will be seen on board Lefra Productions and RSG's successful Oppiwater Arts Festival from 1 - 6 May. This will kick off a countrywide tour of the show. Reservations can be made at Computicket on 0861 915 8000. Group bookings of more than 10 people can be made at discounted prices call calling (011) 815 3000.
