The first Broadway revival of the 1982 Tony Award?-winning musical based on the classic film 8 1/2. Antonio Banderas, Laura Benanti, Jane Krakowski, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Chita Rivera lead the cast.



Nine revolves around one central character, Guido Contini (played by Banderas in his Broadway debut), a film director in the Fellini mold. He is contracted to write and direct a film, but is unable to come up with a suitable plot. After recent box office failures, he finds himself drifting towards a nervous breakdown. Guido finds himself examining his past flawed relationships with the many women who have come through his life and the struggle to act his mature age of 40--as opposed to nine.

According to stopbullying.gov, 15 percent of high school students (grades Nine-12) were electronically bullied in the past year. In one large study, about 49 percent of children in grades 4-12 reported being bullied by other students at school at least once during the past month, whereas 30.8 percent reported bullying others during that time. With such alarming numbers of bullying, author J. Russell Brooks writes a book that addresses the problem and sets up a platform for parents and children not only to share precious bonding time but also to openly talk about and discuss the reality of bullying. Henderson County High School and Flat Rock Playhouse Studio 52 Team Up for 4th Annual 24 Hour Playwriting/Production Challenge

Beginning Friday, January 20, HCPS high school theatre students and teachers will team up with Flat Rock Playhouse artists to write, direct, and perform four original 10-minute plays.  Four writing teams made up of one Flat Rock Playhouse mentor and four student writers representing each high school will convene Friday at 4:30pm.  By 10:30pm Friday, each writing team will have written one 10-minute play.  The scripts will be sent to one of the four high school theatre teachers, serving as directors, who will make preparations for rehearsals beginning at 9:00 AM Saturday, January 21.   (more...)
