I remember reading the book, and I was familiar with the screen adaptation starring Don Cheadle and Mekhi Phifer, but the stage play I didn't know. 'Disney's Newsies: The Broadway Musical!' three-day cinema event broke ticketing records to become the highest-grossing Broadway event to date from Fathom Events. An estimated 210,250 people saw the event on big screens across the U.S. on February 16, 18 and 22, amounting to $3.47 million in ticket sales. Geffen Playhouse's Starry LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT to Stream with BroadwayHD

Geffen Playhouse and online theater streaming service BroadwayHD today announced a partnership to present select live and captured-live productions from the Los Angeles theater to BroadwayHD subscribers. The Geffen's current production of Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning Long Day's Journey Into Night, starring Jane Kaczmarek and Alfred Molina, will be the first play presented under the partnership. We're in Dublin and it's 1986. Jimmy and his musician friends are fed up of art school synth music and want to bring soul music back to the people. The Commitments is adapted from Roddy Doyle's novel of the same name (that in turn was made into a cult hit film). After nearly five decades apart, JOHN FOGERTY has reunited with his beloved ACME Guitar, a guitar he owned in the late 60's and wrote such iconic songs as "Proud Mary," "Fortunate Son" and "Born on the Bayou."  JOHN also played this special guitar on many legendary TV performances, including The Ed Sullivan Show, and it so happens to be the very instrument that he played at Woodstock.  You will hear the story of JOHN's reunion with this special guitar as he plays it live, for the first time in decades, during his intimate residency at The Wynn Theatre on March 3 -11 and again - May 19-28.
