It was at the time nothing more than a media gaffe when a radio broadcaster called a garrison of Australian soldiers stationed in Libya 'rats in a trap'. In true Aussie spirit, the slight was transformed into a mark of pride and 'The Rats of Tobruk', known for their scavenging and tunnelling became legends of contemporary war story. It proved fertile ground for Writer/Director Chris Huntly-Turner, presenting Rats, a Double Feature at Old 505 Theatre in Newtown investigating the men on the battleground, and the women defending their homeland, Dirt and Moonshine respectively. Central City Opera Announces 2017 Summer Festival, 7/8-8/6

Central City Opera's 2017 Summer Festival, which runs from July 8 through August 6, features Bizet's Carmen and Mozart's Così fan tutte performed in repertory in the historic Central City Opera House, and three one-act operas with limited runs—Britten's The Burning Fiery Furnace, Douglas Moore's Gallantry, and Amy Beach's Cabildo—performed in smaller venues located around the town of Central City. Complementing these five widely different operas are pre-performance lectures and talkbacks, staged opera scenes, elegant opening night dinners, and post-performance socials, which make for a full and enriching experience of entertainment and culture in one of Colorado's most historic mountain settings.   (more...)

After two successful nights in 2016, Ben Rimalower will return to both New York and Los Angeles with his acclaimed long-running solo plays, PATTI ISSUES (about his obsession with Broadway diva Patti LuPone and his relationship with his troubled gay father) and BAD WITH MONEY (about how an addiction to spending beyond his means has driven him to extreme lengths all his life).
