The Fox Theatre announced today the official movie lineup for the 2014 Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival, sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company and Delta Airlines. The 2014 Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival will take audiences down memory lane beginning this June with nine movies celebrating anniversaries: Gone With The Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins Sing-A-Long, The Women, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, Double Indemnity and Field of Dreams, which was selected through the Fox Theatre's Facebook fan vote. Additional audience favorites that will be shown on the Fox Theatre's 26-foot high x 56-foot-8-inch wide big screen include the 1933 version of King Kong, Mamma Mia!, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Philadelphia Story, and Saturday Morning Cartoons will introduce children to the classics like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Elmer Fudd that their parents grew up watching and still know and love. I am quite aware that this will sound sacrilegious to many who read this review, but until I saw Actor's Express' titillating production of THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, I had never seen the musical before. I have a vague recollection of watching the film version on VH1's 'Movies That Rock' at some point in the mid-90's, but other than seeing Susan Sarandon in her underwear, it didn't do much to interest me. So, as I made my way to the King Plow Arts Center, I expected to be impressed by the tremendous young talents in the cast, but what I didn't expect was to be transported to another world of naughty, musical theatre ecstasy. The weekend before Easter is going to be jam-packed with fun and amazing theatre as Columbia Children's Theatre (CCT) presents It's The Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown and Stephen Schwartz's Godspell Jr. April 10 -13. The Easter Beagle runs Saturday, April 12 @ 11 & 3:00 and Godspell Jr. runs Thursday, April 10 at 7:00, Friday, April 11 at 7:00 and Saturday, April 12 at 7:00. There will be a special Double Feature matinee Sunday at 3:00 pm of both shows. Tickets are $10 per person and $8.00 for seniors and active military for individual performances, and $15 for Sunday's Double Feature matinee.
