MARCUS CENTER-LIVE at Peck Pavilion Returns this Summer!

Live @ Peck Pavilion and Peck Flicks returns to the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts grounds this summer. The season will run from July 6 through August 26 and each day of the series will have a different program focus. This year, Optimist Theatre: Shakespeare in the Park will join the line up on July 6-9, July 13-16 and July 20-22 at 8 pm with a performance on July 18 at 12 pm and they will present Much Ado About Nothing.  All the events in Peck Pavilion will all be free and open to the public. Central City Opera Announces 2017 Summer Festival, 7/8-8/6

Central City Opera's 2017 Summer Festival, which runs from July 8 through August 6, features Bizet's Carmen and Mozart's Così fan tutte performed in repertory in the historic Central City Opera House, and three one-act operas with limited runs—Britten's The Burning Fiery Furnace, Douglas Moore's Gallantry, and Amy Beach's Cabildo—performed in smaller venues located around the town of Central City. Complementing these five widely different operas are pre-performance lectures and talkbacks, staged opera scenes, elegant opening night dinners, and post-performance socials, which make for a full and enriching experience of entertainment and culture in one of Colorado's most historic mountain settings.   (more...)

She will be workshopping her new play Kin with a local cast and the process will culminate in a one night only presentation on July 17th. Donald E. Westlake published nearly a hundred novels under various pseudonyms during his half-century career, the most influential being the hard-boiled Parker novels. Over the years, the hallmarks of a Westlake book never changed: He was a dedicated craftsman, writing clean, unfussy, powerfully effective prose, weaving complicated and surprising plots, and always letting a deep interest in (and often amusement at) human behavior drive the action. His prose has been the font for many and varied works of cinema-more than 30 films have been made of his books. From May 12 through 14, 2017, Museum of the Moving Image presents Crime Scenes: Donald Westlake on Film, an all-35mm screening series, featuring the most successful and interesting films based on Westlake's books.
