Broadway star Howard McGillin brings his 'Never Been Younger' cabaret to Club Helsinki Hudson on Sunday, April 26, at 7pm, as part of the Helsinki on Broadway series presented by Showstoppers NY in association with Gary DiMauro. The two-time Tony Award nominee is best known for his record-setting run playing the title role in 'The Phantom of the Opera.'

Vivent Health (formerly AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin) and Members of the National Touring Company of The Lion King will present THE LION SINGS TONIGHT, a ONE NIGHT ONLY Cabaret to benefit Vivent Health and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The event will take place on Monday, February 24 at the Marcus Performing Arts Center's Wilson Theater at Vogel Hall, 121 E State St at 7:00PM.

On January 15 and 16 at 7 p.m., Davis Gaines brings both qualities to the Carpenter Center's stage for two nights of storytelling and song. International Culture Lab is calling for proposals from performance artists, actors, musicians, dancers, performers from the variety arts, and beyond... to present an original performance piece between 5 and 15 minutes in length. Drag queen Sherry Vine brings her new cabaret show, 'Hollywood & Vine,' to Club Helsinki Hudson on Sunday, November 17, at 7pm. The show is a co-production with OutHudson.

Two years ago, I revisited French Woods Festival of the Arts (which I attended from 1999 to 2002 as a camper/teen actor and then as an assistant director/stage manager) and BroadwayWorld kindly published an article I wrote about the experience. Beloved Scottish band The Yummy Fur made their name as one of the most influential bands of the '90s. Formed in Glasgow in 1992 their seven years together saw the release of two acclaimed albums, Night Club and Sexy World. Following their split in 1999, the various members went on to form Franz Ferdinand and 1990s. Frequently name-checked as an influence by dozens of British and American guitar bands of the last 20 years, The Yummy Fur last played together in 2010. Rumors of a 'Best Of' compilation have been building for years.  

Multi-faceted, creative hyphenate Charles Busch will be appearing in his latest reincarnation of his 1999 classic cult-fav DIE, MOMMIE, DIE! for four performances May 17 through May 19, 2019 for L.A. Theatre Works. Dazzlingly filling out the crazy cast of characters of DIE, MOMMIE, DIE! - Mark Capri, Willie Garson, Ellis Greer, Jeffrey Self and Ruth Williamson. I had the wonderful chance to revisit Charles' gracious wit after almost two decades previous.

Musco Center presents actor, writer, singer, style icon, activist, and all-around Renaissance man Alan Cumming in Legal Immigrant on Wednesday, April 17 at 7:30 pm. The show is a cabaret of powerful songs and stories, anecdotes and social commentary written with the hope to change negative rhetoric around immigration. Cumming uses his own journey to obtaining American citizenship in 2008 to remind audiences that America is a country shaped by its rich diversity.

I thought throwing out my Annie CDs would be easy--I thought I only had one! Obviously that would be the indispensable Original Broadway Cast Recording with Dorothy Loudon and Andrea McArdle. How wrong I was! I knew that, as a kid, I had the tape of the 1982 movie soundtrack with Carol Burnett and Aileen Quinn (and an all-star supporting cast!), but I didn't remember buying it on CD. And when the hell did I get the CD of the 1999 TV version (with Kathy Bates and an all-star cast)? And, oh yeah... I forgot about this studio album from the 90s with studio cast queen Kim Criswell--I think I bought back in the day somehow convincing myself Ruthie Henshall was playing Annie. (Spoiler alert: She plays Grace.) Oh, and I do remember this '30thAnniversary' deluxe production with Chicago area diva (and original star of the sequel, Annie Warbucks) Alene Robertson as Miss Hannigan plus a lot of bonus material. To add insult to injury, I also have a Blu-Ray of the recent Hollywood remake with Cameron Diaz. I don't even have a Blu-Ray player! This thing is definitely going into the trash along with all the audio, but I will listen to a few tracks online for my edification.

The Connecticut Cabaret Theatre has yet again performed a first-rate show, with THE BIKINIS, a jukebox musical featuring an incredibly talented cast of four actresses.
