Based on the play I Am a Camera by John Van Druten

Based on stories by Christopher Isherwood

The infamous Kit Kat Klub has undergone a new makeover. Grab a VIP seat and become a part of the action. … A female master of ceremonies hosts a decadent and sensual interpretation of CABARET.

Based on the original concept and script, this staged version brings forth the turmoil of love, trust, denial and desire embodied in Sally Bowles as well as the young and restless curiosity of a defiant American named Cliff.

From the producer that brought you the smash hit, Elevator, and the director of Into the Woods and Pippin.

Set against the backdrop of pre-World War II, the show takes place inside a provocative, yet forbidden Kit Kat Klub, where the relationship between cabaret performer Sally Bowles and the handsome American Cliff Bradshaw flourishes only to be confronted by social taboos and the imminent rise of the Nazi Party.

Overseeing all of the action in CABARET is the Master of Ceremonies (MC) of the Kit Kat Klub, who serves as a cultural metaphor and the upbeat catalyst to the ever-changing climate of the show.

Reflecting the moods and guiding the minds of the characters on stage, the MC takes pleasure in reminding the audience how easily society falls prey to the electrifying chaos that surrounds them. It is best to leave all inhibitions outside.

BWW Review: BIRDMAN Is a Remarkable Fever Dream Worthy of Both Stage and ScreenBWW Review: BIRDMAN Is a Remarkable Fever Dream Worthy of Both Stage and Screen
by Matt Tamanini - Oct 24, 2014

Full disclosure, I like most everything that I see; be it on stage, on TV, or on film. I tend to appreciate the vision required to complete such a complicated project, the artistry to craft a new work, and the creativity to bring it to life. However, while I like the majority of shows and movies that I watch, I love very few. I wanted to preface my review with that because, simply put, I loved BIRDMAN. The experience of seeing this dark comedy is as close to the rush of seeing a Broadway show as any film that I can ever remember seeing, including those actually based on Broadway shows. BIRDMAN is an acting, directing, and cinematographing triumph that is sure to be rewarded throughout the upcoming awards season. (more...)

by Dennis Kucherawy - Oct 22, 2014

While reviewing What Makes a Man (WMAM), now playing at the Berkley Street Theatre, it's tempting to comment on what's not there, what could and should be there, rather than what is there. What is on display is a marvelous musical stage portrait of Charles Aznavour, the world renowned French singer/songwriter, actor and political activist/diplomat. A man of the world, he is capable of singing in five languages. One of the last surviving 'showmen,' he still is capable of filling the world's most prestigious concert halls. For example, a year ago he performed for the first time in 25 years at London's Royal Albert Hall. Demand was so great, a second concert was booked there for this past June. (more...)
