Based on the play I Am a Camera by John Van Druten

Based on stories by Christopher Isherwood

The infamous Kit Kat Klub has undergone a new makeover. Grab a VIP seat and become a part of the action. Ö A female master of ceremonies hosts a decadent and sensual interpretation of CABARET.

Based on the original concept and script, this staged version brings forth the turmoil of love, trust, denial and desire embodied in Sally Bowles as well as the young and restless curiosity of a defiant American named Cliff.

From the producer that brought you the smash hit, Elevator, and the director of Into the Woods and Pippin.

Set against the backdrop of pre-World War II, the show takes place inside a provocative, yet forbidden Kit Kat Klub, where the relationship between cabaret performer Sally Bowles and the handsome American Cliff Bradshaw flourishes only to be confronted by social taboos and the imminent rise of the Nazi Party.

Overseeing all of the action in CABARET is the Master of Ceremonies (MC) of the Kit Kat Klub, who serves as a cultural metaphor and the upbeat catalyst to the ever-changing climate of the show.

Reflecting the moods and guiding the minds of the characters on stage, the MC takes pleasure in reminding the audience how easily society falls prey to the electrifying chaos that surrounds them. It is best to leave all inhibitions outside.

BWW Review: 2015 MetroStar Champ Minda Larsen Delivers Another Winning Performance With MY SOUTHERN SONG at Metropolitan Room
by Victoria Ordin - May 30, 2016

The fourth time was the charm for Minda Larsen, winner of the 2015 MetroStar Competition: ¬ďI have an MFA in opera,¬Ē she joked during the debut of her show, My Southern Song, at the Metropolitan Room on May 21, ¬ďSo it took four tries in six years to win that competition.¬Ē The remark is typical of the self-deprecating humor of the versatile singer from Jacksonville, FL, who spent time in Georgia and went to school in South Carolina. Itching all her life to get out of the South, now she longs to get back. Her new show (a four-date run that is her award for winning the MetroStar) captures that longing with love, laughter, and an occasional tear. (more...)

BWW Review: CABARET at Winspear Opera House
by Kyle Christopher West - May 29, 2016

I can't be the only theatregoer who found the tour of Cabaret chilling. During an election year where fear mongering and racial intolerance are sitting center ring, the story of pre-Holocaust Germany seems especially relevant and cautionary. But that doesn't mean the musical, which just arrived at the Winspear Opear House, isn't equally thrilling and heartfelt. (more...)

BWW Review: With TWO GUYS AND A GRAND at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, Cabaret Veterans Jim Brochu & Steve Ross Evoke the Spirit of Music Halls
by Alix Cohen - May 28, 2016

Veteran performers Jim Brochu and Steve Ross have known one another since the 1970s, an era when New York was filled with piano bars, Cabaret rooms, and nightclubs. Pause for a deep, wistful sigh. Framing their new show, Two Guys and a Grand (last Wednesday night at the Laurie Beechman Theatre), in the kind of friendly antagonism and winking shtick popular during vaudeville, the two very different performers manage to be both broad and classy.
