Based on the play I Am a Camera by John Van Druten

Based on stories by Christopher Isherwood

The infamous Kit Kat Klub has undergone a new makeover. Grab a VIP seat and become a part of the action. Ö A female master of ceremonies hosts a decadent and sensual interpretation of CABARET.

Based on the original concept and script, this staged version brings forth the turmoil of love, trust, denial and desire embodied in Sally Bowles as well as the young and restless curiosity of a defiant American named Cliff.

From the producer that brought you the smash hit, Elevator, and the director of Into the Woods and Pippin.

Set against the backdrop of pre-World War II, the show takes place inside a provocative, yet forbidden Kit Kat Klub, where the relationship between cabaret performer Sally Bowles and the handsome American Cliff Bradshaw flourishes only to be confronted by social taboos and the imminent rise of the Nazi Party.

Overseeing all of the action in CABARET is the Master of Ceremonies (MC) of the Kit Kat Klub, who serves as a cultural metaphor and the upbeat catalyst to the ever-changing climate of the show.

Reflecting the moods and guiding the minds of the characters on stage, the MC takes pleasure in reminding the audience how easily society falls prey to the electrifying chaos that surrounds them. It is best to leave all inhibitions outside.

One American great inhabits another in this superior Cabaret, as the Broadway legend Audra McDonald slips into the skin - and unforgettable voice - of jazz icon Billie Holiday. The emotional sensitivity makes it far more than just an immensely skilful impersonation, and makes McDonald's delayed West End debut well worth the wait. (more...)

BWW Review: PUT THE BLAME ON MAME Puts Willow Sizer's Name in the Game at Chapel Off Chapel
by Brodie Paparella - Jun 27, 2017

Willow Sizer takes you right back into the presence of scintillating forties diva songstresses, all the way down to the shivers along your upper arms. Sitting spellbound in the Loft at Chapel of Chapel, an uncontainable crowd were transported back to the times of undulating figures and captivating stylings. Sizer's Cabaret show, Put the Blame on Mame is a genuine and charming education on her upbringing discovering her legitimately impressive talents under the guiding hand of blueprints set down my masterminds like Eartha Kitt, Jane Russell, Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth. The show was so good, this reviewer questioned whether they had lost their wits completely, the kind of platitudes it was engineering in his ordinarily critical mind, completely disarmed by Sizer's singing and sensuality evocative of everything those incredible women brought into our collective consciousness.
