Cristin J. Hubbard to Join the Cast of MAMA AND HER BOYS, 4/23 & 5/7

Cristin J. Hubbard will join the cast of the hit Off-Broadway musical Mama and Her Boys April 23 and May 7. Hubbard has appeared on Broadway in The Phantom of the Opera (she returns to the Broadway company June 30 in the role of Madame Giry) and The Pirate Queen. She joins original cast members/creators Ethan Paulini, Wendy Watson and original New York cast member Erik Keiser on 4/23. On 5/7, the third original cast member Christopher Sidoli will join the cast. (more...)

Due to overwhelming ticket demand the critically acclaimed musical Mama and Her Boys has again extended it's return New York engagement. Tickets are now on sale through May 7. Performances continue Wednesdays at 8:30pm at Sophies at Broadway, 318 W. 53rd St. between 8th and 9th Avenue. Creators and original cast members Ethan Paulini and Wendy Watson will appear on April 23 and May 7. The current cast includes original New York cast member Erik Keiser joined by Sarah Kleeman and Steven Boyd Baker. Paulini will stage and choreograph with musical direction by Lilli Wosk. Co-Creator Christopher Sidoli serves as musical consultant and Tony nominee Linda Kline serves as script consultant. The score features contributions from Sam Carner and Derek Gregor, Drew Overcash, Sally Fingerett and Tony nominee Lucy Simon. The run is produced by CEW Productions and Sophies. Today in 2001, A Class Act opened at the Ambassador Theatre, where it ran for 105 performances. A Class Act is a musical with a book by Linda Kline and Lonny Price and music and lyrics by Edward Kleban. The musical is based on the life of composer-lyricist Ed Kleban, who died at the age of 48 in 1987. The musical uses flashbacks and the device of time running backwards to retrace the high and low points of Kleban's personal and professional life. (more...)

The critically acclaimed musical Mama and Her Boys returns to New York for a limited engagement beginning February 11 at the brand new Sophies at Broadway, 318 W. 53rd St. between 8th and 9th Avenue. Performances will continue Tuesdays at 9pm through March 4. Created by Ethan Paulini, Christopher Sidoli and Wendy Watson. The cast includes original New York cast member Erik Keiser with Sarah Kleeman and Steven Boyd Baker. Paulini will stage and choreograph with production design by Shaun Daley. MAMA AND HER BOYS to Close at Underground Theatre, 5/6; Show to Transfer Theatres

Mama and Her Boys will conclude its run at the Underground Theatre on May 6 when the original stars/creators, Ethan Paulini, Christopher Sidoli and Wendy Watson's initial contracts expire. The show began previews on February 18 and opened February 25. At the time of closing, the new Off-Broadway musical will have played 3 previews and 28 regular performances. (more...)

Providing a behind-the-scenes glimpse of how a musical is created and the forces behind its creation, A CLASS ACT retraces the high and low points of Kleban's amazing career and explores how an artist's personal life can inspire or interfere with professional pursuits. The show integrates songs (which Stephen Sondheim said he 'wished he'd written') from widely different Kleban projects into the narrative, each number establishing a particular moment of insight and creating a study of a lost era in show business.
