New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) announced the publication of its first-ever cookbook, The Producer's Palate, during its March 30 industry screening of the Julia Child documentary Julia and Q&A with directors Julie Cohen and Betsy West. Produced during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the book features recipes, photos, and personal stories from leaders in the NYWIFT community. Proceeds from book sales will support NYWIFT's professional development and advocacy initiatives. 

Special guests for the 33rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York will include Ariana DeBose, Cody Rigby, Peppermint, Amber Tamblyn, Anthony Rapp, Cynthia Nixon, Lily Rose, Nyle DiMarco, Wilson Cruz, GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis, and more.

Fountain Hills Theater announces the opening of the hilarious musical Nunsense.

The competitors, all Julia Child superfans, share personal stories about their hero, cook in a kitchen recreated in the likeness of where Julia herself cooked, using the same ingredients Julia used and are even guided by Julia herself, through a larger-than-life television screen right in the middle of all the action.

New episodes of Julia will air Thursdays on HBO Max. The eight-episode series stars Sarah Lancashire (“Happy Valley”), David Hyde Pierce (“Frasier”), Bebe Neuwirth (Broadway's “Chicago”), Brittany Bradford (Broadway’s 'Bernhardt/Hamlet”), Fran Kranz (“Homecoming”) and Fiona Glascott (“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald”).

What can be better than revisiting an old favorite? Whether you are reading a book again for the hundredth time, watching a favorite movie that always puts you in a good mood, or listening to music you’ve spent your whole life jamming to, the familiar can be quite comforting and uplifting. Such is the case for me when I get to take in a production of a favorite show – something that has long been a staple in my musical theatre lexicon - and that gives me the chance to check in with old friends and experience a new take on a piece. This is how I approached the latest production of Dan Goggin’s hit musical NUNSENSE at Theatre South Playhouse. The classic musical (the second longest running off-Broadway show in history) continues to surprise and delight, with a simple, yet hilarious premise that still has audiences rolling in the aisles almost 40 years after its premiere. And, by offering NUNSENSE as its official return to professional theatre, Theatre South Playhouse, in Dr. Phillips delivers a hilarious, perfectly conceived and executed, rollicking good time.

In 1946 before Julia Child rose to fame James Andrew Beard became the first “celebrity” cook with the premiere of his NBC cooking show, “I Love to Eat.” Television sets were still black and white back then and there may have been 1000 sets total in all of Metropolitan New York, but between Howdy Doody and the 9 o’clock hour, you could experience the culinary delights of James Beard.

Magnolia Network, Discovery’s joint venture with Chip and Joanna Gaines, will make its highly-anticipated cable debut tonight when the channel officially rebrands the existing DIY Network with the cable premiere of Fixer Upper: Welcome Home. The channel will now be home to all existing Magnolia Network original series.

Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally killed fifty-two residents of the Little Sisters of Hoboken convent with her tainted vichyssoise. With the deceased nuns on ice in the deep freeze, the remaining nuns – ballet-loving Sister Leo, street-wise Sister Robert Anne, befuddled Sister Mary Amnesia, the Mother Superior Mary Regina, and mistress of the novices Sister Mary Hubert – stage a talent show in order to raise the money to bury their dearly departed.
