Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Announces Additions And Updates To The 2021/22 Concert Schedule

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra has announced several  updates to the 2021/22 schedule. Newly added artists include conductor David Danzmayr, cellist Alban  Gerhardt, Ensemble Intercontemporain, and Cincinnati Youth Symphony Orchestra concerto competition  winners Maxwell Fairman and Ari Webb. Additionally, Daniil Trifonov's solo piano recital has been rescheduled  for March 1, 2022.

Spirited, an upcoming movie musical adaption of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, has added Sukari Jones, Khiyon Hursey and Mark Sonnenblick, as new songwriters to join Pasek and Paul in writing original music for the film. The cast includes Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, Octavia Spencer, and Sunita Mani.

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and Cincinnati Pops today announced a new initiative, The Fanfare Project, borne of the Orchestra's heritage as a champion of the music of its time and of the role of music to unite us in uncertain times. The inspiration for the initiative is Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man, commissioned by CSO Music Director Eugene Goossens in 1942 in support of Allied efforts and as a testament to the American spirit during World War II. The Orchestra gave the world premiere on March 12, 1943.

Highlights of the new season include return appearances by Pops favorites Audra McDonald, Pink Martini and Cirque de la Symphonie; live-orchestra-to-film presentations; a comedic tribute to orchestras by The Second City; JMR's 10th anniversary celebration, featuring a world premiere by Grammy-winning composer Eric Whitacre; two Lollipops concerts for younger audiences; and four annual Cincinnati traditions: Red White & Boom at Riverbend on Independence Day, Holiday Pops with vocalists Aubrey Logan and Darius de Haas, New Year's Eve at Music Hall and Classical Roots.
