Portland’s Good Theater’s final offering of its nineteenth season is a deliciously zany and stylish production of Peter Kellogg and David Friedman’s 2017 musical comedy, DESPERATE MEASURES, a witty, saucy sendup of Shakespeare’s MEASURE FOR MEASURE set in the Wild West. Directed by Brian P. Allen and Cary Libkin with musical staging by Raymond Marc Dumont, the comedy written in rhyming verse is a rollicking, madcap adventure from start to finish.

After postponing the initial run due to COVID-19 during the spring of 2020, Good Theater is proud to finally present the Maine premiere of DESPERATE MEASURES. A smash hit off-Broadway in 2017 and 2018, DESPERATE MEASURES features music by David Friedman and book and lyrics by Peter Kellogg.

Good Theater returns for the second half of the 2021/2022 season with BROADWAY GOES POP, a tribute to the pop hits that have made their mark on Broadway. BROADWAY GOES POP stars Good Theater favorites Colleen Clark and John Lanham and also features Good Theater newcomers John Furey and Jackie Grigg.

Good Theater will return to the St. Lawrence stage with a season of new works, recent Broadway hits, and the long-awaited Maine premiere of the critically acclaimed off-Broadway musical DESPERATE MEASURES, a production which has been on-hold since 2020, when its run was postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Each Christmas the Good Theater presents BROADWAY AT THE GOOD, a musical concert benefit recreating songs from a particular decade. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 concert did not take place, so this belated virtual songfest, featuring highlights of the 1990s is especially welcome to fans of this company. The well-crafted revue, conceived and directed by Brian Allen with skillful music direction by Victoria Stubbs and video production by Steve Underwood, (Dave Grant, Lead Editor) nimbly handles all the curve balls the pandemic protocols require as it reunites most of the Good Theater regulars, together with special guest stars Valerie Peri and Roosevelt Baker.

Each year Portland's Good Theater presents a holiday musical revue, written and directed by Brian P. Allen, and dedicated to celebrating a decade in American musical theatre history. Allen's show this year is devoted to the 1940s when so many of the geniuses of the a?oelegitimatea?? musical theatre style reigned supreme. The revue he has created is ambitious and comprehensive featuring twenty-five performers, including several Broadway actors, and covering the likes of Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Lowe, Cole Porter, Kurt Weill, and the Gershwins, together with many lesser-known writers. Performed with the intimacy and informality of a cabaret setting, Broadway at the Good Theater offers a nostalgic and delightful musical evening.

For two weeks only Luna Stage will present Ami Brabson's newest cabaret A Change is Gonna Come. The show opens this Friday, December 6th at 8pm and runs through Sunday December 15. Tickets for this powerful blending of story and song, featuring a live band on Luna's MainStage, are available now at LunaStage.org.

Luna Stage will present a benefit performance of Ami Brabson's newest cabaret A Change is Gonna Come on Saturday, December 14th. Doors open at 6:30 PM for wine and mingling. Brabson's performance at 7:30 will be followed by live music, dessert, drinks, and coffee.

Good Theater has announced the line up of this year's Broadway at Good Theater. Over the past two weeks, the brand new Birdland Theater has been the place for some very special #friendsandfamily concerts, to prepare for the upcoming opening week starring Lucie Arnaz. The space has a new stage, new sound and lights, new kitchen, new menu and a few new staffers, but the nine unadvertised shows went without a hitch. Kevin Alvey was there to photograph vocalist/keyboard player/songwriter Nicole Zuraitis on July 11, who jammed the place with friends and fans. Check out the photos below!

FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents Corinna Sowers Adler in Something Beautiful on Saturday, June 16 at 9:30pm One of the most gorgeous voices in New York belongs to Corinna Sowers Adler, who returns to Feinstein's/54 Below in Something Beautiful, which debuted in Jazz at Lincoln Center's majestic Appel Room. Filled with magical songs by Billy Joel, Ahrens and Flaherty, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Elton John, Stephen Schwartz, and others, Corinna Sowers Adler will mesmerize and delight while packing an emotional punch with the songs of Something Beautiful. 

McDaniel College theatre arts students direct and perform eight one-act plays during "The Museum of Living Art: Student-Directed Play Festival" at the college.
