The SHU Community Theatre presents a month of film programming in April.

Hosted by Wanda Sykes, Regina Hall, and Amy Schumer, the 94th Oscars featured appearances by Liza Minnelli, Halle Bailey, Stephanie Beatriz, H.E.R., Anthony Hopkins, Samuel L. Jackson, Lily James, Lady Gaga, John Leguizamo, Uma Thurman, John Travolta, Rachel Zegler, and more.

Ariana DeBose took home the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the recent film adaptation of West Side Story. The film also won in the Best Film Editing category.

Yesterday, March 11th, the American Film Institute (AFI) celebrated the 2021 AFI AWARDS honorees with a star-studded invite-only luncheon in Beverly Hills. AFI also revealed its official rationales (below) for all 23 honorees, providing the cultural and artistic context to mark these outstanding creative endeavors as the year’s notable milestones.

Trinity Theatre are partnering with Tunbridge Wells Amnesty Group for a special screening of legal drama The Mauritanian, accompanied by a live Q&A session.  On the panel will be Mohamedou Ould Slahi himself, who the film was based on, Nancy Hollander, the lawyer who got Slahi out of Guantanamo Bay detention camp, the film's director Kevin Macdonald and investigative journalist and Guantanamo expert, Andy Worthington.

Day 4 of the 37th Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival presented by UGG began with the Writers panel conversation on Saturday morning. Cinephiles gathered together for Oscar nominated producers Kenneth Branagh (BELFAST), Siân Heder (CODA), Adam McKay (DON'T LOOK UP), Denis Villeneuve (DUNE), Zach Baylin (KING RICHARD), Maggie Gyllenhaal (THE LOST DAUGHTER), Jane Campion (THE POWER OF THE DOG) and Eskil Vogt (THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD) in conversation led by Los Angeles Times writer Glenn Whipp.

The Art Directors Guild (ADG, IATSE Local 800) announced winners of its 26th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards in 13 categories of film, television, commercials, music videos and animation features, during a black-tie dinner gala at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown on Saturday night, March 5, 2022. 

Day 3 of the 37th Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival presented by UGG concluded with a live tribute to Kristen Stewart, who received the American Riviera Award. Stewart was honored at an in-person conversation about her career leading up to this year’s performance as Princess Diana in Pablo Larraín’s SPENCER from NEON.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards were held Sunday, Feb. 27 at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. The telecast aired on TNT and TBS. Among the big winners for the evening, taking home multiple awards, were CODA, Squid Game and Ted Lasso.

In Marvel Studios’ “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” the MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. This morning, Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan announced the nominations for the 2022 Academy Awards, which will be held this year on March 27th! Nominees includes Andrew Garfield, Ariana DeBose, Jessie Buckley, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Judi Dench, Steven Spielberg, Nicole Kidman, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Denzel Washington, and more.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts have announced the nominees for the 2022 BAFTA Film Awards. West Side Story scored five nominations, including nods for Ariana DeBose and Mike Faist. Other nominees include Cyrano, Encanto, Ruth Negga, Jessie Buckley, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Lady Gaga, and more. Check out the full list of nominations now!

Last night, the winners were announced for the 79th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Among this year's winners were Rachel Zegler and Ariana DeBose for West Side Story, MJ Rodriguez from Pose, and Andrew Garfield for tick, tick...BOOM!

Stage and screen star Benedict Cumberbatch with star in a new Roald Dahl film adaptation from auteur Wes Anderson.

Previous fiction program winners of the globally regarded Golden Nymph Awards include Modern Family, Breaking Bad, Money Heist, The Marvellous Mrs Maisel, and My Brilliant Friend. A stellar rollcall of acting talent has also been recognized by the Festival including Patricia Arquette, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Grégory Montel, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

The film reached the new record on Tuesday, December 28, after bringing in $24.8 million on Monday. The new earnings bring the film to $495.1 million during its 11-day run in 4,336 theaters in the U.S. and Canada. The cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alfred Molina, Jamie Foxx, Willem Dafoe, Marisa Tomei, and J K Simmons.
