Startup legend Tim Draper named Tony Capasso "Best In Class" and pledged a substantial investment in his growing business during Thursday's season finale of ABC's Family's unscripted series "Startup U." ABC Family is becoming Freeform in January 2016.
Tony's company, Construction Automation, Inc., provides 3-D printing and robotics solutions for the construction industry, with the ultimate goal of making affordable housing available to everyone who needs it. Out of a class of thirty-five students, Tony was selected "Best in Class" based on the scoring and feedback from premiere venture capitalist Tim Draper and over thirty investors and industry-expert judges. Since Pitch Day and Tim's $250,000 initial investment pledge, Tony has accrued over an additional $550,000 in raised funds and committed capital from other angel investors. Tony continues to work on his business and has moved to the SILICON VALLEY with his wife and fellow student, Erin Brady Capasso. Erin is currently working at Draper University as Program Manager. Runner-up Carly Martinetti received an undisclosed investment from Tim for her business, Pretty Litter, which is a revolutionary, low-cost, lightweight kitty litter that monitors a cat's health.
