A GIRL IN THE RIVER: THE PRICE OF FORGIVENESS' Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has won the Oscar Documentary Short Film. This is the second Academy Award nomination for Obaid-Chinoy. She was previously nominated for:

SAVING FACE (2011)
Winner, Documentary (Short Subject)

Other films nominated in the category include: Body Team 12, Chau, beyond the Lines, Last Day of Freedom and Claude Lanzmann: Spectres of Shoah

About the film: Every year, more than 1,000 girls and women are the victims of religiously motivated honor killings in Pakistan, especially in rural areas. Eighteen-year-old Saba, who fell in love and eloped, was targeted by her father and uncle but survived to tell her story.

The 88th ACADEMY AWARDS are taking place tonight, Sunday, February 28, 2016, at the Dolby Theatre® at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood, and are being televised live by the ABCTelevision Network. The Oscar presentation is also being televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide. Comedian, actor and filmmaker Chris Rock returns as host of the event for a second time.
