Accompany Corky Siegel's Chamber Blues with your phones as the "Handheld Corkestra" at Raue Center tonight, October 25.

Corky Siegel has been looking for ways to better involve audiences and fans in his music and performances. What's more engaging then having an audience participate in the performances? Not much. With that Corky wondered how audience members could play a song on their phone and accompany their Chamber Blues performers onstage!

Corky Siegel then wrote a simple three part composition; with two parts for the audience (left and right) for a wide stereo effect, and a third part for the Chamber Blues ensemble performing on stage (strings). Both the recorded sound track broadcasts from the smart phones and the live music from the stage will replace the original soundtrack to an historic video. "Sunstone," by Ed Emshwiller and Alvy Ray Smith, produced in 1979. "Sunstone" was one of the first all digitally produced videos Alvy maintains was the proudest moment of his creative life - even more than Toy Story and the other great Pixar features which this movie made possible.

Corky Siegel, Chamber Blues progenitor, co-founder of the Siegel-Schwall Band and Chicago Blues Reunion participant announces a concert event, set for THE RAUE CENTER that promises to break musical and cultural boundaries in no uncertain terms. The evening will also serve to be celebrate of multiple anniversaries, as well, including the 40th for Alligator Records, the Chicago-based label for which Siegel and Chamber Blues record, the 25th of the (anti)establishment of Chamber Blues, Corky's revolutionary blues-classical fusion concept, and the 71st of Corky's ongoing love affair with Planet Earth.

Siegel has arranged for a program that melds his reverent re-imagining of the blues for which he's become so well known over the course of a career that has spanned five decades (and counting) with disparate, yet compatible iconoclastic talents of the vocal trio, SONS OF THE NEVER WRONG, a turbo-charged Altfolk trio from Chicago, that delivers witty, whimsical songs with their signature soaring vocal harmonies and gorgeous arrangements. In case you're wondering, they're 2 gals and a fella: Bruce Roper, Sue Demel and Deborah Lader. Their odd ball humor and spontaneous stories ignite their live shows and have earned them a cult-like international following for over 20 years. Combining influences of folk, jazz, pop and rock, their sound is wildly original, their energy is contagious and their banter is hilarious. Critic's cheer: "Prepare to be blown away!" And if that is not enough Banjo Innovator Michael Miles will join in the "coolaboration." And with all the serious and intellectual input that was necessary to create this program, these wild troubadours will not for a second be able to hold back their joy and laughter!
