The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Interim Executive Director; David McCoy, Chairman of the Board), dedicated to the development of new musicals and preserving musical gems from the past, presents the New2NY presentation of the new musical Mark Felt, Superstar with book, music and lyrics by Joshua Rosenblum (Bush Is Bad, Fermat's Last Tango).

The limited engagement of Mark Felt, Superstar will play 10 performances only, January 7 - 15, 2017 at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (619 Lexington Avenue, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). Opening Night is Sunday, January 8, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.

Directed by Annette Jolles (Little by Little, Grind /York Mufti Series), and with music direction by the composer, the five-member cast will feature Peter Benson (The Mystery of Edwin Drood) as Bob Woodward et al, Will Erat (Catch Me If You Can) as L. Patrick Gray et al, Vanessa Lemonides (Zorba!) as Audrey Felt et al, Neal Mayer (LES MISERABLES) as Mark Felt, and Michael McCoy (The Phantom of the Opera) as Richard Nixon et al.

When former FBI agent Mark Felt revealed in 2005 that he had been Deep Throat, the secret source who helped Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein bring down President Richard Nixon, he ended one of the most intriguing chapters in the history of journalism (and one of the worst in U.S. politics).

In this whimsical, jazzy musical romp, the multi-talented cast of five together portray twenty-four colorful characters in a fast-moving, illuminating take on the shocking political scandal that riveted America and still reverberates today. Part thriller, part tragedy, part comedy, Mark Felt, Superstar will have you rethinking everything you thought you knew about Deep Throat and Watergate, all while being transported by some irresistible musical numbers.

The York's New2NY series is similar to its Musicals in Mufti series of simply-staged concert performances of musical gems from the past. However, New2NY-as its name indicates-focuses on new musicals, providing a stage between developmental lab and full production. Previous shows in the series have included In Transit (which just opened on Broadway), The Times, Larry Grossman's Compose Yourself!, and this season's How to Be an American.
