Southern Rep is pleased to announce that its Annual Gala, this year entitled Southern Rep Celebrates Louisiana, will take place on June 3, 2014 in the Chinoiserie Ballroom at the Windsor Court Hotel (300 Gravier Street, New Orleans, LA 70130). The event will gather 200 policy makers, business leaders, local and national theatre personalities, academics, and other community influencers for a cocktail reception and Silent Auction at 6:30 pm, and a formal dinner, awards ceremony, and live performance hosted by famed actress and cabaret performer, Leslie Castay, at 7:30 pm.

Our Gala theme this year, Southern Rep Celebrates Louisiana, is meant to reflect more than the running theme of our next Mainstage Season (every play written by, or about Louisiana). It speaks to the heart and soul of Southern Rep, our history as a homegrown organization, and our current position as New Orleans' premiere professional theatre, one that regularly represents our region on a national stage. We are proud of Southern Rep's heritage, our growth, and our state - and we are ready to celebrate!- Aimée Hayes, Producing Artistic Director

During the cocktail reception and Silent Auction portion of the event, Gala attendees will have an opportunity to mingle, sip on a premium selection from the open bar, and place bids on a variety of luxury goods and services offered by local and regional businesses.

The formal dinner and live performance will begin promptly at 7:30 pm, hosted by Leslie Castay featuring special appearances by Troi Bechet and Clint Johnson, accompanied by Harry Mayronne Jr., as well as renowned Louisiana playwright John Biguenet, and a representative from the Tennessee Williams / New Orleans Literary Festival who will provide remarks about Southern Rep's support of new play development and groundbreaking local partnership efforts, respectively. The event will also include an awards ceremony honoring Dr. Bernard Jaffe M.D., Professor of Surgery Emeritus at Tulane University, with the Leadership in Excellence Award, William Reeves, President of the Jane Austen Society of Louisiana, with the Supporter of the Year Award, and Madison Curry, Owner of Ill Posto and 3x3 Playwright, with the Young Guard Award for their outstanding contributions to Southern Rep's success.

Southern Rep Celebrates Louisiana is open to the public, with entrée ranging from $150 to reserve a seat to $1,500 to sponsor a table. All reservations are partially tax-deductible. Proceeds support Southern Rep's critically-acclaimed Mainstage productions and education programs that provide underprivileged children opportunities to experience live, professional theatre productions in the 2014-15 Season.
