1) Sunday in the Park with George

It's just perfect. I hardly know what to say, but it moves me to tears every time I hear it.

2) Hairspray

I freaking love this soundtrack. I can't help but sing along and my body starts moving (I'm more of a mover) too. Great album for a little MT time on the treadmill too!

3) Jesus Christ Superstar

My parents had this record and we would listen to it a lot growing up. And the tape too--on road trips. So random, my parents had two musicals, this and HAIR. Both are favorites to this day. King Harrod's low notes, and also the electric bass on this album still rattle the car frame in my memory every time I hear them.

4) Falsettos

When I was first getting in to musical theatre, I spent one summer working in Cincinnati with Rachel Hoffman. We became great friends, and she lent me this CD. Instant love. "Unlikely Lovers" still moves me. And now I get to hear Michael Rupert nightly! Pinch me.

5) West Side Story

I suppose everyone says this, but--it's just SO GOOD. That score!!!! Those orchestrations! "Cool"... is one of my very faves.
