Exclusive! Real World HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH Figures In New York Times Magazine Photo Essay
BroadwayWorld is thrilled to premiere an exclusive preview of a photo essay featured in this weekend's THE NEW YORK TIMES MAGAZINE featuring an assortment of real-life figures who evoke the titular transsexual star of the hit Broadway rock musical HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH.
According to the description of the photo essay, "The photographer Magnus Arrevad spent close to five years in several countries, documenting men applying makeup, dressing in elaborate costumes and performing. One of them, Eric Gorsuch, who goes by Mr. Gorgeous, says he has witnessed the transformation of the art form in real time. 'I'm super lucky in that I feel like, even looking five years ago till now, so many people today are aware of and acknowledge different kinds of sexuality - gay, straight, bisexual, whatever...'."
"The Real Hedwigs" will be featured in this weekend's edition of THE NEW YORK TIMES MAGAZINE and on the website beginning tomorrow morning at 11 AM, available here.
More information on THE NEW YORK TIMES MAGAZINE is available at the official site here.
Of note, the current Broadway production of HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH received 2014 Tony Awards for Best Revival, Best Actor In A Musical (Neil Patrick Harris), Best Featured Actress In A Musical (Lena Hall) and Best Lighting Design Of A Musical (Kevin Adams).
