Lauren Pritchard

Where: 54 Below (254 W 54th Street)

When: September 9 at 9:30 PM

Tickets: $30- $65 at http://54below.com/artist/lauren-pritchard/

Lauren Pritchard has been writing stories and creating fantasies for a number of years, and now she'd like to share them with you. Eight years ago this bright-eyed Tennessee girl arrived in New York City ready to take on a big adventure. Lauren made her Broadway debut at 18, originating the role of the forlorn and wandering "Ilse" in the 8-time Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening. While in the show she began to perform her own music around NYC, which led to a deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing. Spring Awakening offered her first introduction to the intricacies of developing a new musical, and she fell in love with the creative process. After Spring Awakening Lauren moved to England, signed a record deal with Universal/Island Records, and spent 5 years being LOLO-performing rock 'n roll and bringing the house down on stages all over the world. She has toured extensively, written and recorded an album (to be released soon), and co-wrote and performed on the top 10 Billboard hit "Miss Jackson" with Panic! At The Disco. But in her spare time she was quietly creating stories. Then last summer she had the fortune to meet the very clever Michael Kimmel, and they immediately set out to create something together. The wheels started turning, and a few months later their baby had a name: a new musical called Bluebird.

The Houston Chronicle termed her "A National Treasure." And the prestigious Smithsonian Institution chose her recording of "Too Late Now" (from her RCA Lamp Is Low album) for inclusion in its Best Performers of the Best Compositions of the 20th Century permanent collection, along with such other singing greats as Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland. Add 76 appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, a Grammy nomination in the mid-Sixties as Best New Artist, a bevy of awards reflecting her showmanship, and you have an illustrious singing career that is still going strong after a life-time spent entertaining audiences who are now amazed to discover she still exudes the vocal strength and stamina of a singer half her age.
