Directed by Luke Sheppard, the show starred 13-year-old acting student Adam Scotland in the title role.

Also in the cast were Sally Ann Triplett, Sarah Earnshaw, Elizabeth Seal, Emily Lane, Alasdair Harvey, James Gaddas, Martin Johnston, Connor Fitzgerald and Bailey Pepper.

The Adrian Mole book series follows teenager Adrian's life in the UK in 1981 and 1982, written in diary style, and includes critiques of Margaret Thatcher and mentions of Prince Charles, Lady Diana and Prince William. The first book was published in 1982 and is part of an eight-part series. There was a stage production made in the mid-'80s that ran at Wyndham's Theatre, followed by a national tour. The books also sprouted a TV series.
