A closer look as HAMILTON tributes A CHORUS LINE in an unforgettable way!

Off-Broadway hit musical Hamilton paid tribute to legendary Public Theater production A CHORUS LINE in honor of its 40th anniversary with a special event last week, recreating the iconic stage image conjured up by director Michael Bennett to cap the unforgettable opening sequence of the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical smash, and the star/creator of the show, Lin-Manuel Miranda, has now shared an extensive series of photos from onstage and backstage commemorating the momentous event via social media and they are all now available to view.

Miranda posted the first pic on Twitter late last week, also commenting, "One Singular Sensation. #ChorusLine40 #HamiltonPublic".

Later, Miranda shared several new shots shared with iconic original A CHORUS LINE cast members Kelly Bishop, Priscilla Lopez and more, writing, "More pics from #AChorusLine40 night in my phone".

On the day of the event, Miranda followed up with a series of tweets, sharing, "1) So we put up our headshots and as Blankenbuehler (as Larry) collected our headshots, our male ensemble sang Paul's Who Am I Anyway? solo. 2) then our female ensemble, one by one, led us in What I Did For Love. The original cast joined us onstage and took a bow in THEIR LINE. 3)Oskar presented a plaque that will commemorate ACL outside the Newman Theater. Then we all sang What I Did For Love & cried our eyes out," before adding, "You have not seen dancers live like our dancers did tonight, knowing The Chorus Line was in the audience. Humbled to have shared the stage."

Previously, Miranda posted a series of witty tweets throughout the day using quotes from A CHORUS LINE as BroadwayWorld reported here.

As stated above, all surviving cast members of the original cast of A CHORUS LINE convened onstage as part of the once in a lifetime celebration, as well.

Of note, A CHORUS LINE originally opened on Broadway on March 15, 1975, following a run downtown Off-Broadway at the Public Theater, current home of HAMILTON.

Furthermore, read all about the original production in this week's Theatrical Throwback Thursday, available here.

The official description of Hamilton is as follows: "From the creative team behind the Tony Award-winning In The Heights comes a wildly inventive new musical about the scrappy young immigrant who forever changed America: Alexander Hamilton. Tony, Grammy, and Emmy Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda wields his pen and takes the stage as the unlikely founding father determined to make his mark on a new nation as hungry and ambitious as he is. From bastard orphan to Washington's right hand man, rebel to war hero, loving husband caught in the country's first sex scandal to Treasury head who made an untrusting world believe in the American economy, Hamilton is an exploration of a political mastermind. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Eliza Hamilton, and lifelong Hamilton friend and foe, Aaron Burr, all attend this revolutionary tale of America's fiery past told through the sounds of the ever-changing nation we've become. Tony Award nominee Thomas Kail directs this new musical about taking your shot, speaking your mind, and turning the world upside down. Hamilton is the recipient of an Edgerton Foundation New American Plays Award."
