BAS JUNIOR!
Workshop for Teens & Children, ages 7 to 17
Theatre for Children, Performed by Children
Foster the imagination in your child, by enrolling him or her in the next Bay Area Stage Junior Summer-Fall workshop & production. Directors, Jessika Speer & Stacey Loew, train young performers in the arts of acting, dance, and voice, followed by a weekend of three performances on the BAS mainstage.
Twice a year, BAS Junior workshops offer instruction in dance, music and acting, to young people ages 7 to 17 years old. The students in the program have the use of the theatre’s two dressing rooms, theatre lighting, and stage, and for BAS teens who feel more comfortable working behind the scenes, our workshops also offer technical instruction in lighting and sound design.
BAS instructors are steadfast in providing students the tools they will need to succeed in life on, and more importantly, off the stage. Being a part of a theatre production takes teamwork, courage, persistence, and commitment – traits that will sustain young people throughout their lives. We feel it is equally important to become well-rounded in the arts, and to develop an understanding for everyone who puts in the work to make a production happen. BAS often utilizes children in their productions, but does not always have the time to teach the basics during rehearsals.
