For the third show of their Late Night Jazz residency, Blue Lab Beats present their pick of the ones to watch in London jazz right now, kicking off with showcase performances from trumpeter Poppy Daniels and quintet Knats, and a one-off chance to catch these artists and Blue Lab Beats jam together.
Poppy Daniels
Known for her exceptional trumpet playing, Poppy Daniels has built a reputation as a key figure in the UK jazz scene, collaborating with some of the most respected artists including Blue Lab Beats, Daniel Casimir, Celeste, Jordan Rakei, Arlo Parks, Hak Baker, and more. She has performed at prestigious venues around the world, earning a reputation as a dynamic and versatile musician.
2025 sees Poppy step into the spotlight as an artist in her own right releasing her debut EP Keep on Going, blending her London roots with influences from jazz, Latin, and hip hop to create a rich and vibrant sonic landscape.
Knats
A quintet led by two lifelong best mates from Newcastle Upon Tyne, Stan Woodward (Bass) and King David-Ike Elechi (Drums), alongside their younger sidekick and virtuoso trumpeter Ferg Kilsby, make 'Geordie Jazz' with sophisticated arrangements, strong melodies and danceable grooves.
After moving to London at the end of 2022, Knats took London by storm playing a sold out Jazz Refreshed headliner, supporting Str4ta at the Jazz Cafe, and performing at the BBC Proms, as well as working with and backing the likes of Geordie Greep and Eddie Chacon, and collaborating with major fashion brands Palace, Beams and Arc’teryx.
After signing to Gearbox Records in 2024, Knats released their debut self titled album this year to critical acclaim from the likes of Jazzwise, Rolling Stone Japan, The Guardian and many more.
