An evening of future-facing jazz and genre-bending fusion is coming to the Elgar Room as ORII COMMUNITY takes over Late Night Jazz with the sounds of some of London’s most innovative musicians.
Celebrating boundary-pushers and cross-cultural sound-makers, this special edition brings together an exciting lineup of ORII residents, Christopher Chikwanah, Demba.io, Big Dreco, NuAloe, Sunshine the Afrooist, Grifton Forbes-Amos, Neue Grafik, and Tjoe Man Cheung.
The show will feature a special guest set from South London singer-songwriter, Hillarynx. Playful and multi-tonal, Hillarynx draws inspiration from Betty Carter, Nina Simone and the Soulquarians. Her work is rooted in Black Feminism(s) and she credits London's jazz jam scene for shaping her signature sound. Her contralto voice grounds the audience to face these times.
