You might have thought that Arabs couldn’t get any funnier. Think again. The funniest Arabs in London are back on stage, in the flesh, funnier than ever before in the Elgar Room.

This special edition of Arabs Are Not Funny is performed by five Arab women comedians as part of Arab Women Artists Now – AWAN Festival 2024.

Line-up:
Farah Sharp
Isabelle Farah
Fatiha El-Ghorri
Fathiya Saleh
Lama Alfard

Produced By Arts Canteen in association with the Royal Albert Hall. Supported by Arts Council England, Bagri Foundation, Cockayne foundation and Generation 2030 UK.

Please note that line-ups are subject to change.

Farah Sharp
An English-Egyptian comedian based in London, Farah has performed around the UK as well as in Sydney, Australia. Her stand-up is a mix of quirky opinions and anecdotes, often based around her upbringing or relationships and what she has (or hasn’t!) learnt from them.

Isabelle Farah
A British-Lebanese comedian, writer, and actor. Isabelle has appeared on the BBC and CBS. As an actress, she’s worked in theatre all over the UK and in London’s West End.

Fatiha El-Ghorri
A British-Moroccan writer, actor and regular on the UK comedy circuit. Her observational stand-up and wonderful witticism take you on a whirlwind journey that pulls apart and challenges Muslim stereotypes. When she is not doing stand-up, you may see Fatiha on your TV screens, including The Jonathan Ross Show and Russell Howard's Comedy Hour.

Fathiya Saleh
A youth worker by day and comedian by night, North-West London comic with Somali-Yemeni roots, Fathiya shares the funny mishaps of what it’s like being Muslim and living in a Somali household. Fathiya's most recent appearance was on the BBC Asian Network comedy special.

Lama Alfard
Lama is a pioneer in stand up comedy in Saudi Arabia. She started doing stand up back in 2011 through an open mic contest against five other participants and won first place. During the same year, she opened for international comedians like Reggie Watts and Nemr Abou Nassar. She recently participated as a headliner of Riyadh Laughs Festival in 2023.

Arab Women Artists Now (AWAN) is the UK’s only contemporary multi-arts festival dedicated to showcasing Arab women’s artistic work, taking place each March, to coincide with International Women’s Day across venues in London. The festival showcases work in venues across London. Celebrating and promoting high quality female artists from the Arab world and diaspora the cross-arts festival features music, comedy, literature, visual art, theatre and performance, along with a series of workshops and development opportunities for emerging artists.
