A Fine Madness at Woolly Mammoth

Dates: 5/30/2026 - 5/31/2026

📍 Theatre:
Woolly Mammoth

A Fine Madness is a world premiere work created and performed by Woolly Mammoth Company Member Justin Weaks, directed by Raymond O. Caldwell, that blurs the line between performance and communal gathering. Inspired by the Voyager Golden Record, the piece weaves together poetry, music, storytelling, games, and scientific inquiry as Weaks leads audiences in co-creating a collective record of shared humanity. At its core is Weaks' own story as a Black gay man in Washington, DC, navigating a recent HIV diagnosis—reclaiming personal narrative as an act of resistance against erasure. The production tours to cultural hubs across DC, with performances at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company's Rehearsal Hall, Dupont Underground, Hamiltonian Artists, and The Nicholson Project through June 28, 2026.
