An Asian American Dance Journey - Program A brings the Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company to Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in honor of AAPI Heritage Month. Program A features the world premiere of Drawings in Space, a new work honoring the life and art of Japanese American sculptor Ruth Asawa (1926-2013), whose internment during World War II and eventual studies at Black Mountain College shaped her signature looping sculptures. The program also includes repertoire works Meditations (2008), Caverns (2012), and Charlie Chan and the Mystery of Love (2010), the latter inspired by choreographer Dana Tai Soon Burgess's own coming-of-age story as a young gay Korean American in 1980s Santa Fe.
