Ford's Hosts Childrens Auditions for A Christmas Carol 9/10

By: Aug. 24, 2011

The Ford's Theatre Society announced that auditions for children's roles in the company's production of "A Christmas Carol" will be held September 10, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Ford's Theatre administrative offices (514 Tenth Street, Fifth Floor). Families may sign up for an audition timeslot on site beginning at 8:30 a.m. Children between the ages of five and 13 who are interested in auditioning should prepare a Christmas song and a short poem to recite and bring with them a photo and résumé. Families are encouraged to visit the Ford's Theatre website for full information about what they will need for the audition.

The rehearsal and performance commitment dates for this year's cast are October 28 to December 31, 2011. Rehearsals will be held after school (3 p.m.-8 p.m.) on weekdays, and all day (10 a.m.-6 p.m.) on Saturdays and Sundays. Mondays, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are normal days off. Technical rehearsals begin November 12 and the span of day shifts from noon-10 p.m. or noon-11:30 p.m. (times subject to change). All performances of "A Christmas Carol" will be held at Ford's Theatre (511 10th Street NW).

Those with conflicts during the show rehearsal and performance period should not attend the open auditions on September 10.

An audition form is available on the Ford's Theatre website. The direct audition link is: http://www.fords.org/open-audition-children

Families will be notified via phone if their child is requested for a call back. Those with questions should email auditions@fords.org. No phone calls.
