"Yvonne Daley wrote an important book about an important time in Vermont and in
the United States as a whole. Excellent journalist that she was, Yvonne beautifully
captured the tenor of the times, the people who made a difference, and with the
soundtrack of the period ringing in every reader's ears. Bringing the stories in the
book to the stage has been a joyful, invigorating, nostalgic, and, at times, wistful
process. The hippie invasion of Vermont is now long ago but the values, and the
politics, linger in our culture. They call us to be better friends and neighbors, to
care deeply about the outside world, and to oppose oppression, while searching
for truth, spreading love, and singing loudly to the era's music even if, just a bit
off-key. The late sixties and seventies aren't gone, they're certainly not dead, they
remain a beacon to follow whenever we need to remember it is not too late to
seek a newer world."-Eric Peterson OldCastle Theatre
