Den 78:e Emmy Awards delades ut ikväll, den 14 september, och flera favoriter från teatern fanns bland årets vinnare.
Jean Smart tog hem priset för Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series för Hacks, vilket markerar hennes femte raka vinst för serien. Med segern blev Smart den första skådespelaren att vinna en skådespelar-Emmy för varje säsong av en tv-serie. Smart sågs senast på Broadway förra säsongen i Call Me Izzy. Hon blev nominerad till en Tony Award för 2000 års revival av The Man Who Came to Dinner och gjorde sin Broadwaydebut i Piaf 1981.
Scen- och filmskådespelaren Matthew Rhys skrev också historia som den första skådespelaren att vinna två ledande skådespelar-Emmys under ett och samma år, då han tog hem priset för Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series för Widow's Bay och Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie för The Beast in Me. Rhys gjorde sin New York-scendebut i Roundabout Theatre Companys Off-Broadway-uppsättning av Look Back in Anger 2012 och kommer att återvända till New Yorkscenen 2027 som Richard Burton i Playing Burton på Lincoln Center Theater.
Broadwayveteranen Allison Janney vann priset för Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series för The Diplomat. Janney har blivit tvåfaldigt nominerad till Tony Award och hennes Broadwaymeriter inkluderar Present Laughter, A View from the Bridge, 9 to 5, Six Degrees of Separation och den kommande revivalen av den hyllade pjäsen Other Desert Cities.
Andra stora vinnare inkluderade The Pitt för Outstanding Drama Series, Widow's Bay för Outstanding Comedy Series och DTF St. Louis för Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
Den 78:e Emmy Awards hölls över tre kvällar, den 5, 6 och 14 september. Ceremonin den 14 september leddes av Mariska Hargitay och sändes live på NBC från Peacock Theater på L.A. LIVE.
