Classic Stage Company ha anunciado el elenco completo para The Baker's Wife, el legendario musical de Stephen Schwartz y Joseph Stein que nunca antes ha recibido una producción a gran escala en Nueva York.
Dirigido por Gordon Greenberg, el revival abrirá la temporada 2025-26 de CSC en el teatro Lynn F. Angelson (136 East 13th Street), comenzando desde el 23 de octubre hasta el 14 de diciembre, con la noche de apertura programada para el 11 de noviembre de 2025.
Como se anunció previamente, la ganadora del premio Tony Ariana DeBose protagoniza como Geneviève junto a Scott Bakula como Aimable Castagnet. BroadwayWorld habló en exclusiva con Nathan Lee Graham, quien compartió, "Es emocionante trabajar en una partitura temprana de Stephen Schwartz. Es emocionante retroceder en el tiempo y preguntarse a uno mismo, '¿Qué influencias tendría él en ese momento?' Y para mí, personalmente, interpretar al Marqués, esto va a ser muy divertido, aunque no suelo apoyar a proxenetas. ¡Voy a llamarlo un emprendedor!" En un tranquilo pueblo francés, un panadero y su esposa traen pan fresco... y nuevo chisme. Cuando la tentación aparece y los corazones se extravían, todo el pueblo es arrastrado a un remolino de romance, travesuras y melodía. La producción cuenta con la partitura conmovedora de Schwartz, que incluye la querida balada "Meadowlark", y el libro de Stein basado en la película La Femme du Boulanger de Marcel Pagnol y Jean Giono.
